My favorite Lippie

Another short entry!
Gonna share with you guys my favorite lip colour from STAGE.

Bought it sometimes back, it looks so natural that i can match it with any outfit.
What i like most is that it is not totally nude and has a tint shade of brown in it.
Did i mention that it makes my lips smelt like Chocolate too? ;D

Applied my Etude House lip Plumper to add an extra shine!

With flash.

Have a good weekend!

August babies.

This is a super belated post - Marissa's and Vince's birthday. Both on the month of August!First was with Marissa, celebrated her's at Ice Cold Beer, personally i don't really like the services over there. Kind of rude. But their pizza and wings taste fabulous!

Next is buddy's birthday - Mr. Vain.
Got him a Kiehl's gift set, hope he love it which i bet he does! :P
Had dinner over at Tonkichi which is located at Suntec City basement, portion was huge. Service was good, quite attentive to us.

And now i'm going to share with you the yummie pastries.

Chanced upon some blogs and read on forums, people were all raving about the cakes there.
erm decided to pop by this place.
If you had heard and ever tried Patisserie Glace cakes which was located at the maple tree building at tanjong pagar then i reckon you guys should have heard about Chef Yamashita.
He left Glace and open this new cake/ pastries shop -> Flor Patisserie solely by himself.

Located at 2 Duxton Hill #01-01.
I think their opening hours are from 11am - 6 or 7pm.

I love this because it's filled with creamy custard and it's one of the most popular cakes there.
I'm not good at giving feedback or comments about food, hah.
I just love that it's not too thick or filled with too much cream.

The price is around $5-6.50 for each.

Till then, am going back to prepare for my coming sat papers. zzz.

Liese - "Lee-zay"

Some of you might wonder how to pronounce Liese correctly?
Well, here you go ~ Lee-zay

I suddenly realised most of my entries are about skin care or cosmetics but not a single bit about hair products. So today i'm going to share with you guys my thoughts after trying out these 2 products  -
Juicy Shower hair mist and Wave-up foam.

My review:
I've been using it for 1 week. Love the raspberry scent and how it nourish my hair especially on the split ends, it doesn't makes my hair look or feel greasy at all after using.
Well i wanted to bring out but it's bulky thus not very convenience to squeeze inside my bag.

Pro: Nice raspberry scent, nourish my hair, hair feeling soft all day
Con: Inconvenience to bring out.

Rating: A

My review:
I always wanted my hair to look wavy whenever i curl my hair yet i am not a fan of using wax. Never. I love to feel and touch my hair all the time but i dislike using too much hair styling products.
So i picked this with only "1" holding power.
I'm pretty happy as i doesn't need to finish off with any hair spray and yet it promise to keep my hair wavy all day. It doesn't frizz up my hair too which is good and which mean i doesn't need to splurge on extra haircare products after using it.

Pro: keep my hair wavy all day, doesn't cause the hair to frizzle after using.
Con: Nil

Rating: A

Do you apply moisturiser if you have oily skin?

Do you know what causes oily skin?

Heredity, diet, hormone levels, pregnancy, birth control pills, cosmetics that we use, humidity and weather.
However personally i think the main players are hormones and the weather, especially the weather in SG.

I use to think that i have oily skin thus i thought i could afford to skip the moisturiser which was so wrong and i think most of the people think that too.I only came to realise it when my cheeks area looked flaky and dry, while my T-Zone is pretty oily.
In fact moisturizer is one of the most important skin care product that we should never leave out.
Regardless whether you have any skin types, your skin needs them.

Moisturiser = added or extra hydration for your skin.
The "oil" in our skin is not "water" that will help to hydrate our skin.

Moisturising will help to hydrate our skin and keep them glow, enable our make up to goes on more smoothly, plump up the lines and smooth our skin's texture.

Next i'm going to share with you 2 of my favourite moisturizers that i had tried:

1. Dermalogica Active Moist (for normal to oily skin)

**A lightweight, oil-free lotion for daily moisture protection to actively combat surface dehydration.

A lightweight, oil-free lotion for daily moisture protection to actively combat surface dehydration. This sheer, easy-to-apply formula contains Silk Amino Acids and a unique combination of plant extracts to help smooth and improve the skin's texture. Natural botanical astringents of Lemon, Watercress, Burdock and Ivy help to refine the skin while soothing extracts of Lavender, Mallow and Cucumber provide deep hydration. Contains no artificial fragrance or color.

How it works
  • Silk Amino Acids smooth and improve skin texture.
  • Natural botanical astringents of Lemon, Ivy, Watercress and Burdock refine the skin.
  • Soothing extracts of Lavender, Mallow and Cucumber provide deep hydration.

Ingredients: Lavender(Lavendula Angustifolia) Extract, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Butylene Glycol, Methyl Gluceth-20, Dimethicone, Lactamide MEA, Stearic Acid, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Polysorbate 60, PEG-100 Stearate, Extracts Of: Mallow (Malva Sylvestris), Ivy (Hedera Helix), Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus), Sambuscus Nigra, Arnica Montana, Pellitory (Parietaria Officinalis), Watercress (Nasturtium Officianate), Burdock (Arctium Lappa), Sage (Salvia Officinalis), Lemon (Citrus Medica Limonium), Saponaria Officinalis, Grape (Vitis Vinifera) Seed; Silk Amino Acids, GLycolipis, Hyaluronic Acid, Lavandin (Lavandula Hybridia),Palmitoyl Hydroxypropultrimonium Amylocpectin/Glycerin Crosspolymer, Lethicin, ALlantoin, Panthenol, Cetyl ALcohol, Glyceryl Stearate, Polyquaternium-10, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Propylene Glycol, Disodium EDTA, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaben, Propylparaben

My review:
I've been using this light weight lotion for the past few months and it was introduced to me by my facialist. It has no scent at all as it claimed. This moisturiser is much more rich as my face looked greasy after application. However if i use it at night, my face feel supple and soft the next morning.
This comes into really good help especially when i have pimples outbreak or having any skin irritation. As pimple creams usually will dry out the pimple and the skin around the area, this product has helped to moisturise and hydrate it. When i'm having any skin irritation, it will help to sooth the redness away. So far, there's no irritation or redness develop.

Price: S$110
Pro: lotion feels light weight, no fragrances and colorant.
Con: Face look greasy after application in the day, price.

Rating: B

2. Estee Lauder Hydrationist lotion (for normal / oily combination skin)

**Estee Lauder Hydrationist lotion claimed to provide 24 hour age resisting hydration. The proven formula incorporates powerful technologies to help skin regain and sustain its moisture balance level, reinforcing skin's first line of defense against visible aging effects. Hydrationist delivers immediate and lasting moisture from outside in - and from the inside out.
  • Clinical testing proved that after just 1 application, skin remains significantly moisturized even 24 hours later.
  • Our exclusive Bio-Mimetic Water is "structured," so it is easily absorbed deep within skin's surface. You can feel the replenishing benefits immediately.
  • With continued use, our exclusive Sustainable Moisture Complex™ with Revival Plant Extract helps boost, balance and maintain skin's optimum moisture levels.
  • Encourages skin's natural "barrier building" abilities so it holds on to more moisture-and fights signs of premature aging more effectively.
Clinical testing proved that 100% of women who used it experienced a dramatic moisture boost, instantly and throughout the day.

Over time, skin's moisture barrier is strengthened by 50%* with  the exclusive Sustainable Moisture Complex™-so with continued use you'll see younger and healthier-looking skin, year after year.

My review:
Recently i have been sourcing for a good morning/ day hydrating moisturiser as my Dermalogica one doesn't worked well for me in the day. After scanning through the forums and much of positive comments, i decided to grab the sample. I decided this will be the one after my 4 days trials.

It comes in a light weight lotion and has a mild scent of cucumber but not that disturbing. The absorption of the lotion is pretty fast and my face does not feel any bit of stickiness nor greasy after application. It interjected my face with instant hydration and i can feel that my face is much more moistuirsed through out the day. It enable me to apply my make-up smoothly too.

My main concern was that i have lines around my forehead and mouth(laughing lines). After a month of usage, the lines seemed to be less visible, so i guessed it did helped to plump up/ hydrate these areas. :D
I've been using it as part of my morning skincare regime and i would say that the lotion has proven what it claimed - providing hydration to your skin for more than 24 hours.
So far, there's no irritation develop.

Price: S$86
Pro: light-weight lotion, keep my skin plumped and moisturized whole day, minimised my lines.
Con: Price.

Rating: A

Vionn's Tip: If you have oily/ oily combination skin(like me), opt for a light-weight moisturizer which comes either in lotion or gel. Look for something which is water-based and "oil-free". It will be great if the product is "free" of colourant, fragrances and alcohol. Personally I think cream moisturiser is much more heavy and rich for oily skin and will cause our skin to be even more greasy especially in the day. It will be better to use it at night.

Avoid having overdose of caffeine - which are mostly found in coffee or tea. I'm a coffee addict but after realising that caffeine will dehydrate my skin and prevent our body from making good use of the vitamins and minerals from our food at the same time, i tried to cut down a lot.
Drinking plenty of water will help to keep our skin hydrated too.

"L'Oreal Paris Dermo-Expertise Youth Code"

This is a new range of anti-wrinkle treatment which L’Oréal Paris is proudly presenting to us after a decade of research in genetic science with an unprecedented joint research project with Saint Louis Hospital(internationally known for dermatology research) in France. They have termed their discovery as Dynamic Cosmetology, a study that ultimately helps to increase the skin's capacity for fatigue recovery and re-establish its natural code for youthfulness.

Do you know that due to the modern and hectic lifestyles we have, signs of fatigue start to appear faster and intensely. You might have overlook it but in the long run, fine lines will slowly develop into wrinkles and your dark circles would deepen, while complexion loses its radiant and face would start to sag.

By understanding how the skin reacts to aggressors has enabled L’Oréal Paris Dermo-Expertise to formulate Youth Code to optimize gene response in older skin and induce them to produce protein at a faster rate for rejuvenated skin.
Youth Code was developed as a solution for in-dept rejuvenation to combat fatigued skin and restore its vitality regardless of its age.

Youth Code technology includes:
  •  Patented Pro-Gen™ technology - A Biolysat, or product of fermented Bifidus bacteria which has been found to trigger Keratin 6B gene expression, body chemicals which are involved in cellular renewal and promote cell barrier function so that the skin can retain moisture and defend itself from aggression. Pro-Gen™ technology works on overall skin rejuvenation. Improvement in the barrier function is an indication of skin's capacity for recovery.
  • Adenosine - A constitutive components of DNA which has been identified as essential for cellular functioning which slows down the effects of aging by stimulating Pro-collagen to support the skin's structure and thereby reducing wrinkles.
Youth Code comprises a range of anti-wrinkle treatment skincare products which comes in:

    •  Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Day Cream (above pic) SGD42.90
Youth Code Day Cream is a gene genius in a jar, giving women the radiance of well-rested skin. The luminescence non-fatigued skin with lesser wrinkles allows the woman the confidence to match her active lifestyle. This Rejuvenating Day Cream deeply smoothes, moisturises and brightens dull, tired complexions. The gel texture is created by silicone elastomers and also contains mattifying particles that leaves complexion feeling velvety soft, revealing a clearer and more luminous radiance.

    • Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Eye Care (above pic) SGD42.90
The Youth Code Eye Care smoothes and reduces dark eye circles and under-eye bags, melting onto skin upon application, creating a sensation of smoothness provided partly by an active tensor ingredient. Complete with textile fibres, << soft focus >> effect powder, and coloured pigments with optical properties, the formula reduces and masks imperfections while restoring radiance to the eye area.

    • Youth Code Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Concentrate (above pic) SGD45.90
An intensive, ultra -rapid « smoothing + tensor » effect
The Youth Code Concentrate is an oil-in-water emulsion made from beeswax and shea butter that melts easily into skin. Particles, fibres and powders with a << soft focus >> effect provide a smooth, mattifying finish for the user. Imperfections like deep wrinkles are rehydrated and skin is smoothened for that luminous glow.

Youth Code will be available at Watsons, Guardian, Robinsons, OG, John Little’s, BHG, Metro, Cold Storage and FairPrice Xtra and Finest from November 2010.

    AQUALABEL - Moist Coat Essence

Launched in Japan in 2006, AQUALABEL is a skincare range, specially developed by Shiseido Laboratories, for those who believe that "The lack of moisture is the root of all skin evils".

Moist Coat Essence is a transparent concealer that prevents the visibility of pores in just 10 secs!
Amazing isn't it? Sound too good to be true? mm.. i shall try to see whether the result speaks what they promised. Anyway my pores are quite visible too so i was thinking of giving this a try.
It contained hyaluronic acid(my fav. ingredient), glycerin, silicic acid.

It comes in a transparent paste form and target to conceal uneven skin surface caused by diated pores.
The essence acts as a transparent concealer that prevent the visibility of pores and provide a smoother application and a long lasting finish.

    My review:
    *The above pic(right) - i applied a little only.
To my surprise, YES! It helped to conceal my pores and smoothed the area i applied! Amazing! If you want to conceal it better, you can apply a bit more and you will see the differences. It allowed me to apply my foundation or bb cream smoothly without leaving any patches and it doesn't feel dehydrated too. So far so good, no irritation.

The only thing that bothers me is that they don't come with an applicator, thus i need to use my hand to apply the paste. Don't forget to wash your fingers thoroughly before applying it. :)

    Price: S$27.90
    Pro:Concealed pores instantly.
Con: Without an spatula and i need to use my fingers.
