Do you apply moisturiser if you have oily skin?

Do you know what causes oily skin?

Heredity, diet, hormone levels, pregnancy, birth control pills, cosmetics that we use, humidity and weather.
However personally i think the main players are hormones and the weather, especially the weather in SG.

I use to think that i have oily skin thus i thought i could afford to skip the moisturiser which was so wrong and i think most of the people think that too.I only came to realise it when my cheeks area looked flaky and dry, while my T-Zone is pretty oily.
In fact moisturizer is one of the most important skin care product that we should never leave out.
Regardless whether you have any skin types, your skin needs them.

Moisturiser = added or extra hydration for your skin.
The "oil" in our skin is not "water" that will help to hydrate our skin.

Moisturising will help to hydrate our skin and keep them glow, enable our make up to goes on more smoothly, plump up the lines and smooth our skin's texture.

Next i'm going to share with you 2 of my favourite moisturizers that i had tried:

1. Dermalogica Active Moist (for normal to oily skin)

My review:
I've been using this light weight lotion for the past few months and it was introduced to me by my facialist. It has no scent at all as it claimed. This moisturiser is much more rich as my face looked greasy after application. However if i use it at night, my face feel supple and soft the next morning.
This comes into really good help especially when i have pimples outbreak or having any skin irritation. As pimple creams usually will dry out the pimple and the skin around the area, this product has helped to moisturise and hydrate it. When i'm having any skin irritation, it will help to sooth the redness away. So far, there's no irritation or redness develop.

Price: S$110
Pro: lotion feels light weight, no fragrances and colorant.
Con: Face look greasy after application in the day, price.

My review:
Recently i have been sourcing for a good morning/ day hydrating moisturiser as my Dermalogica one doesn't worked well for me in the day. After scanning through the forums and much of positive comments, i decided to grab the sample. I decided this will be the one after my 4 days trials.

It comes in a light weight lotion and has a mild scent of cucumber but not that disturbing. The absorption of the lotion is pretty fast and my face does not feel any bit of stickiness nor greasy after application. It interjected my face with instant hydration and i can feel that my face is much more moistuirsed through out the day. It enable me to apply my make-up smoothly too.

My main concern was that i have lines around my forehead and mouth(laughing lines). After a month of usage, the lines seemed to be less visible, so i guessed it did helped to plump up/ hydrate these areas. :D
I've been using it as part of my morning skincare regime and i would say that the lotion has proven what it claimed - providing hydration to your skin for more than 24 hours.
So far, there's no irritation develop.

Price: S$86
Pro: light-weight lotion, keep my skin plumped and moisturized whole day, minimised my lines.
Con: Price.

Vionn's Tip: If you have oily/ oily combination skin(like me), opt for a light-weight moisturizer which comes either in lotion or gel. Look for something which is water-based and "oil-free". It will be great if the product is "free" of colourant, fragrances and alcohol. Personally I think cream moisturiser is much more heavy and rich for oily skin and will cause our skin to be even more greasy especially in the day. It will be better to use it at night.

Avoid having overdose of caffeine - which are mostly found in coffee or tea. I'm a coffee addict but after realising that caffeine will dehydrate my skin and prevent our body from making good use of the vitamins and minerals from our food at the same time, i tried to cut down a lot.
Drinking plenty of water will help to keep our skin hydrated too.
